Our first taste of summer this year is coming this weekend, and by all accounts it could be staying with us a while.
National Weather Service meteorologist Audra Hennecke says our current weather pattern is pumping warmer-than-normal air from the South into the Central Plains, and it looks like we could be stuck with this pattern for the next week.
Hennecke says temperatures in the 90s aren’t all that unusual, but this will be our first extended period of 90-plus-degree heat this year and most of us aren’t acclimated to the summer-like weather conditions just yet. She says it’s a good idea to stay hydrated; wear light, loose-fitting clothing; and head indoors to air-conditioned comfort if you feel the need.
