One person has been hospitalized after a crash on Interstate 35 on Emporia’s northern edge, but officers say that may not have been due to any injury suffered in the crash itself.
A pickup was eastbound on I-35 when the driver apparently veered off the highway and crashed into a ditch just west of the Merchant Street exit around 3:30 pm. Police say there could have been a medical issue that led to the crash.
The driver was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment with the concerns about possible medical issues. The driver, as yet unnamed, was not hurt during the crash.
