Drowsy driving may have contributed to an injury crash in north-central Emporia on Tuesday morning.
A two-vehicle crash was reported in the 1100 block of Congress around 6:45 am. Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says a car and SUV collided near the intersection of 12th and Congress after the car’s driver, 32-year-old Quenton Criqui of Emporia, may have fallen asleep at the wheel as he was driving westbound on 12th. The car went left of center, hit a curb at the intersection and then hit the SUV driven by 73-year-old Marcia Doman of rural Emporia.
Doman was hospitalized at Newman Regional Health afterward, while Criqui had apparently minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Criqui was cited for careless driving.
