Two people were hurt in separate crashes on the Kansas Turnpike on Tuesday. The crashes happened at nearly the same spot within an hour of each other.
The first wreck developed at mile marker 103 southbound, 24 miles southwest of the Emporia tollgate, when a semi rolled over around 6:50 am. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Richard Moss of Papillion, Neb., left the highway for currently unlisted reasons. His semi then hit an embankment and overturned.
Moss was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita afterward. His condition has not been released.
The second happened between mile markers 103 and 104 northbound about 7:40 am. The Turnpike Authority says 36-year-old Jennifer Walker of Towanda reported a ghost vehicle approached her vehicle. Walker swerved, lost control and hit a guardrail. Walker was hurt but not transported to a hospital afterward.
