Emporia Public Works crews made quick work of a water main issue that developed early Sunday morning near 7th and Garfield.
Underground Utilities Supervisor Mike Dvorak tells KVOE News a six-inch line had a split in it about 60 inches long that needed to be repaired. Crews cut it out and replaced it. The call first came in between 5 and 6 a.m. and it’s not clear how many customers were offline, but Dvorak says any customers who were offline weren’t without water for very long.
The split is the second such split in that area in less than a week. On Memorial Day a six-foot split also developed on a water line at 6th and Sherman.
Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling north or southbound along Garfield.
