A pavement resurfacing project is scheduled to begin Monday on the Kansas Turnpike, southwest of Emporia.
The project includes milling and overlaying pavement from mile marker 96.3 to 112.3 on I-35/KTA, portions of the Matfield Green Service Area parking lot at mile marker 97 and lengthening the acceleration/deceleration ramps connecting to the service area. KTA spokesperson Jeri Biehler says there are some bridge projects included in this project.
The project will be completed in late October, weather permitting. Biehler says motorists can expect some lane closures as well.
The Matfield Green Service Area will remain open and access will be maintained during the duration of the construction project. For more information, visit KanDrive.org or ksturnpike.com.
