Conversations continue between city and county officials to solidify the new joint comprehensive plan after it’s adoption in 2017.
Both the city and county have had separate comprehensive plans, which help to dictate land use and thus future growth patterns. The county plan has not been adjusted in the last 15 years while the city’s last adjustment was in 2008. In 2016 both the county and city agreed to come together and create a joint comprehensive plan.
County Zoning Administrator Sam Seeley was a recent guest on KVOE’s Newsmaker Two segment and explained where both the city and county are in their process.
Seeley says the plan will have an impact on transportation and a major focus of conversation currently is the topic of walkability.
A major change from the plan would be to the current zoning codes. The plan would encompass a new form-based coding style. Seeley explains exactly what that will entail.
In the future city and county officials hope to have public meetings to gain ideas and perspective from local residents.
