A friendly face at the Humane Society of the Flint Hills is stepping down after more than a decade on the job.
Executive Director Judy Dieker was a guest on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Monday and announced that due to health reasons she’s retiring effective Aug. 17. Dieker says she plans to be involved in the search for a new director.
Dieker says the position has changed quite a bit since she first took over growing from a part-time position to a more full-time position.
The Humane Society is also in the midst of hosting dog obedience classes which Dieker says is their biggest fundraising effort each year.
Dieker noted how effective the classes can be both for new and old dogs alike.
Class size is limited and the cost is $35. For more information, contact Dieker at the Humane Society at 342-4477.
