Emporia Police say one person was hurt Wednesday evening as the result of a two-vehicle crash in the 1400 block of East 6th Ave.
According to Sgt. Tim Wacker, just after 5:15 p.m. a passenger car driven by 19-year-old Shelby Green of Council Grove was eastbound when it slammed into the back of a passenger car driven by 64-year-old Karen Nielsen of Lebo. Nielsen’s vehicle was attempting to make a northbound turn onto Whildin Street when the accident occurred.
Green was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health with non-life threatening injuries. Nielsen was not injured. Police cited Green for following too closely.
