On Wednesday flags could be seen flying at the All Veterans Memorial in recognition of the 74th anniversary of D-day, June 6, 1944.
That is the day in World War II on which the Allied Forces invaded northern France by means of beach landings in Normandy. The operation began the liberation of German-occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control. It also paved the way for the Allied victory on the Western Front.
