The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team opened play in the Sam Ellis Classic with a 10-2 win over the Andover Jaguars Friday morning.
Post 5 scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, added 4 runs in the 4th, a run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th. Hayden Baumwart was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI.
Jace Stewart drove in 2 runs. Sawyer Slayden was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings giving up only 2 hits with 6 strikeouts.
The Post 5 seniors will play again tonight at 7pm against Ottawa.
