Some “big” changes are coming rather soon for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Flint Hills.
It was announced Friday that the organization is dissolving and being acquired by Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters. Serena Randolph, the Flint Hills chapter’s executive director says it’s an exciting time for the organization.
One big aspect of the acquisition will be the ability to offer the Emporia staff with full benefits, something that has not been offered in the past. Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Dan Soliday says most of the changes will be procedural.
The territory of Lyon, Chase, Coffey and Morris counties will become part of the Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters territory. Jami Reever, executive director of the United Way of the Flint Hills likes the expanded services that will be offered locally.
Board member Karen Belford explains why she’s excited about this new era in Lyon County.
Josh Blaisdell, the local agency’s board vice president and secretary says he’s looking forward to the new partnership.
As part of the acquisition, Soliday says a goal will be for the Emporia location to be able to serve 200 to 300 matches, something they believe is achievable.
On Monday, the Emporia location will open up as part of Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters. The office at 1001 West 12th Ave. will be closed Tuesday as employees attend training and orientation in Wichita.
