With a 25th anniversary set for July 1, the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas has launched its newly updated website.
The new version of emporiarda.org launched officially Friday and RDA President Kent Heermann says they’re still fixing some of the kinks. Overall it will be a major driver of the RDA’s five-year marketing plan which was discussed at length during Friday’s monthly board meeting.
Heermann says a publication is being put together to highlight some of the ways the Emporia region’s economy has changed both for better and worse since the RDA’s formation in 1993. He explains how the economic sector has shifted.
Heermann says three of the region’s top 10 employers from those days are either gone or have downsized considerably. Meanwhile, the animal nutrition industry has seen a lot of growth over that time span with Heermann saying there are now close to 1,000 employees in that sector.
