The David Traylor Zoo hosted the 15th Wings of Hope butterfly release Saturday evening with Hand In Hand Hospice.
Cyrele Clausen, social worker and bereavement coordinator at Hand In Hand Hospice, talked about the symbolism of the butterflies.
Individuals that had given Hand In Hand the name of their loved ones that recently passed, prior to the event were provided with a butterfly to release as their loved one’s name was read. Clausen says that the event is meant to memorialize those who have been lost by celebrating their lives.
