Increases in commodities costs are driving a requested budget increase for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jeff Cope says he’s requesting a one-percent overall increase based on increased costs for fuel and food.
Cope says plans for merit increases are also part of the budget request.
Cope’s presentation came as part of a Lyon County Commission study meeting Wednesday. More budget requests are coming during the board’s action meeting Thursday, including Newman Regional Health, Lyon County libraries and CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness.
The action session begins at 8 am in the County Courthouse.
