AMERICUS — Planning continues for potential improvements at North Lyon County Elementary-Junior High and Northern Heights High School.
This week’s USD 251 North Lyon County School Board meeting largely revolved around a status report from the P-1 Group, which has been tasked with developing an investment-grade audit to go through a raft of possible upgrades and enhancements. Superintendent Aron Dody says it’s a thorough process as the district looks to get the biggest return on investment.
Both buildings could see extensive work, depending on how the board decides to proceed.
Lighting upgrades, secured entrances and LED signage are also possible.
The audit also offers a guarantee that the district will save a certain amount of money, based on the renovations, and if those savings don’t develop as expected P1 is then responsible for the extra costs.
The final report is slated for the June 27 meeting. The board can line-item any potential work from the overall list, so at this time the potential costs are yet to be determined.
