One person escaped serious injury during a traffic accident north of Emporia on Sunday.
The single-car crash developed in the 2200 block of Kansas Highway 99, about four miles north of Emporia, around 10:45 am. Early indications are one vehicle was in the process of turning. The driver of a second vehicle lost control trying to avoid a crash. As a result, the northbound car veered off the highway, hit a culvert and ended up on its top, nudging a tree before coming to rest.
The wreck was originally listed as an injury accident, but deputies on site say nobody was hospitalized as a result. The investigation continues.
