The Emporia Junior American Legion team went 0-2 on day two of the Andover Tournament Saturday.
In game one despite a 6-run deficit in the third inning, Post 5 almost came all the way back, eventually falling 12-11 to Junction City. Junction City opened the scoring with two runs in the first, second, third and fourth innings. Emporia would score in the third and fifth and tied the game with three runs in the sixth. Junction city would close out the game with one run in the seventh to take a 12-11 win. Kadyn Williams was three for five at the plate scoring three runs in the . Tanner Brooks, Avery Peek and Ethan Garate each had three RBI and Garate had one triple in the game.
In their second game the Post 5 Juniors were routed by Newton 14-4. Newton took the lead early scoring two runs in both the first and second. Emporia would answer back with a run in the second and follow up with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings but were overwhelmed by four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Avery Peek led Post 5 with two hits in two at bats and two RBI. Tanner Brooks and Josiah Senne each scored a run.
Coach Aaron Mejia says despite the loss his team handled themselves well at the plate.
Post 5 returns to action Wednesday when they host Ottawa at Sodens Grove.
