The Texas Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals Monday 6-3 in a game that saw Rangers pitcher Bartolo Colon pick up his 244th career win.
The Rangers would get on the board first scoring a single run in the top of the first. Four more runs would follow in the top of the third before Kansas City would answer back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Adalberto Mondesi would double in the third and scored on a Mike Moustakas sac fly. Delino DeShields bunt single in the eighth inning would score a run and seal the win for the Rangers.
Ian Kennedy was the starter for the Royals giving up five runs on four hits with three walks in six innings.
This is the seventh straight loss for the Royals who are now 22-50 on the season and have dropped 27 of 37 home games.
The Royals will resume their series with the Texas Rangers this evening at Kaufman Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:15, pregame coverage on KVOE 1400am/96.9fm will begin at 6:30.
