The first annual U.S. Amateur Disc Golf Match Play Championships will take place in Emporia this weekend.
The new tournament will follow the success of the Glass Blown Open and be an Emporia exclusive event. Competitors qualified for the competition by winning regional tournaments across the U.S. and even Canada.
Doug Bjerkas of Dynamic Discs gives a rundown of how the tournament will operate.
52 amateur disc golfers will compete in the inaugural tournament with hopes of being crowned the national champion. Play begins Friday morning, the finals are scheduled to take place at 10 am Sunday in Peter Pan Park.
