Emporia fire crews had a busy afternoon Thursday.
Around 3:15 pm, crews were called to the 1200 block of West Fifth after a reported fire. Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says issues developed with the stove, although there was no actual fire. The cause hasn’t been listed.
Shortly before 4 pm, a power line was downed in the 300 block of East Copley. Steinlage says a mature tree was blown over by straight-line winds and fell on electric and cable lines. Westar Energy’s outage map reflected no outages in that area afterward.
