Major League Baseball announced Thursday it will be staging a game to take place two days before the opening round of the 2019 College World Series.
The Kansas City Royals are set to do battle in a regular season game on Thursday, June 13, 2019. This will be the first Major League Game ever held in Nebraska and will be televised by ESPN at TD Ameritrade Park one day before the Opening Celebration Day of the 2019 NCAA College World Series.
The game resulted from an agreement between MLB, the NCAA, Minor League Baseball, Kansas City’s AAA affiliate Omaha Storm Chasers and Omaha’s Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority. The game follows a rich history of MLB matchups taking place in non-traditional locales, including the inaugural Little League Classic in Williamsport, Penn., and several foreign countries.
