If you’re interested in honoring a veteran through Emporia Main Street’s annual banner program, you need to submit an application soon.
The application deadline is June 29. If your banner is selected, you have two weeks to give Main Street a high-quality digital picture of the veteran you want honored — in uniform is preferred — as well as the $200 payment.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says this has become a hugely popular way to honor veterans.
The project has captured national attention, with a host of cities large and small across America now following Emporia’s example of honoring veterans in this manner.
There are nearly 260 banner slots all told, but there are only about 20 available slots. Applications are on Main Street’s website, www.emporiamainstreet.com. You can also call 340-6430 for more information. The drawing is July 2.
