A rollover crash on Interstate 35 in Emporia Sunday caused some major congestion, but thankfully no serious injuries.
Emergency personnel including Emporia Police, Emporia Fire & Rescue and the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a rollover crash near mile marker 129 in the southbound lane. The accident occurred around 2 p.m.
While details surrounding the crash are pending a formal investigation, it appears two vehicles were northbound when the incident occurred. One vehicle slid off the interstate and into the south ditch of the northbound lanes while the other jumped the median, crossed the two southbound lanes of traffic and then rolled onto its top in the north ditch.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage tells KVOE News that no one was transported from the scene. The driver in the car that slid into the south ditch was able to drive away unharmed. Additional details are pending.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
