After snapping a nine-game losing streak Friday, the Kansas City Royals were unable to build on that success, falling 4-3 to the Houston Astros in 12 innings Saturday.
With the Royals leading 3-2 in the ninth inning, the Astros tied the game in the ninth when Evan Gattis hit a sacrifice fly off Brandon Maurer. Carlos Correa’s single to right in the 12th scored the winning run, giving the Astros a come-from-behind victory, their major-league leading 51st win on the year.
The Royals were paced by Hunter Dozier who went 1-for-4, with a three-run homer in the fourth, his fourth of the year. Justin Grimm took the loss for Kansas City. Colin McHugh picked up the win for Houston.
The rubber game of the series is Sunday at 1:15 p.m. Pregame coverage on KVOE 1400 AM/96.9 FM will begin at 12:30.
