A truck driver suffered minor injuries following a minor crash in the parking lot of the Flying J truck stop at 4215 West Hwy 50 in Emporia Sunday.
Emporia Police and Emporia Fire & Rescue were called out shortly after 10 a.m. Police say the driver of one semi-truck sideswiped another semi’s front bumper with its trailer. The impact caused the driver in the parked rig, who was sleeping at the time in his cab, to fall out of his bed and onto the cab floor. He was treated on the scene, complaining of back pain and then later transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health.
Since the incident occurred on private property, neither driver was ticketed, although the semi that took the impact sustained significant front end damage.
The other driver was not injured. Names of both drivers have not been released but Emporia Police say both drivers were from out of state.
