The Emporia Energy 14U team went 1-1 in back to back games Sunday.
In their first game of the day, Emporia shutout the SC Elite 14-0 in three innings. Emporia opened the scoring two runs in the first inning. The 14 and under girls added six in the second thanks to an error by SC and hits by Audrey Tubach and Paisli Butler. Five more runs followed in the third as Emporia completed the shutout. Audrey Tubach was the winning pitcher giving up just three hits with four strikeouts.
The lead slipped away early from Emporia in their second game of the day against the Manhattan Optimist Sweet Heat. Manhattan got on the board first off a triple on a 0-1 pitch. Emporia managed two runs in the first and five in the second but fell to Manhattan 10-7. Abby Tubach led Emporia with three hits in three at-bats scoring two runs.
