A temporary project to improve the Prairie Street overpass is being lengthened.
Originally, the plan to improve the northbound and southbound approaches between Sixth Avenue and South Avenue was designed to last one day and possibly two beginning Wednesday. Now, the Lyon County Highway Department has announced it is closing that portion of Prairie Street through Friday. Closure times are 7 am to 5 pm all three days.
In addition to temporary repairs for the approaches, the extra time allows BG Consultants to conduct certain tests to prepare a report on how best to handle permanent repairs next year.
This means drivers will have to go east to State Street or west to Lyon County Road G to move past the work zone.
