Charges have been dropped against one defendant in last fall’s kidnapping and beating case outside Emporia.
Andrew Granado was facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, conspiracy on both counts and aggravated robbery. Charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled at a later date.
County Attorney Marc Goodman is withholding comment at this time.
Granado was one of several defendants charged after a then-16-year-old male said he was kidnapped and then beaten at two different locations in Lyon County back in November:
*Armando Nunez will face trial later this year. Nunez faces charges of aggravated battery, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
*Alexander Couch pleaded no contest to attempted robbery, aggravated batery and conspiracy. His sentencing is Aug. 15.
*Samuel Garcia, 18 was sentenced in April to seven years in prison for his involvement in the incident.
*Selena Hernandez, charged with aiding and abetting aggravated robbery, and Jonathon Manzano, charged with aggravated battery and attempted aggravated robbery, had their sentencing hearings pushed from this week to next month.
