Staying cool during this hottest part of the summer will be the name of the game for many this week.
The Emporia Public Library typically sees higher attendance when the temperatures push triple digits. Director Robin Newell says they are happy to accommodate those who need to escape the heat.
Beginning next month the MealSpot food truck through USD 253 will be at the library every day from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Additional details will be announced later.
Attendance will likely be up this week at the Emporia Recreation Center for activities, but likely down at the Jones Aquatic Center. ERC Director Tom McEvoy.
Jones Aquatic Center Director Jennifer Wegener says they’re already implementing more safety measures for swimmers and for lifeguards.
Dangerous heat will continue through Saturday and with heat index values ranging from 101 to 112 degrees.
