Not much relief to the heat is in sight for the KVOE listening area.
In fact, a heat advisory goes into effect at noon Tuesday for Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties and remains in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, the 4th of July. High temperatures are expected to be in the middle 90s to around 100 degrees with afternoon heat indices around 105 degrees. Prolonged exposure to the heat could lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
Outdoor activities should be limited. However, of course, with Wednesday being the 4th of July, that also means if you are planning to be outdoors, to stay hydrated and have a plan to stay cool, taking plenty of breaks, finding ample shade and air conditioning. As a reminder do not leave kids or pets unattended in vehicles.
