Mother Nature apparently believes the Fourth of July deserves a firecracker-hot forecast.
Officially, Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in an advisory from noon Tuesday through 8 pm Wednesday. Chase and Greenwood counties are in a separate advisory from 1-8 pm Tuesday. Air temperatures are expected in the mid-90s both days and heat index readings could hit 105.
Looking ahead, TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers is expecting a hot month.
July may well be dry. Forecast models are calling for equal chances of dry, normal or wet conditions for August and September.
