The amount of help that poured into Eureka following last week’s tornado was nothing short of impressive.
Now, much of that effort has shifted to the local residents there, nearly a week after the EF-3 tornado devastated parts of the city. Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell was among those on the incident management team that responded to help out with the disaster June 26. On KVOE’s morning show Tuesday, Fell reflected on the purpose of his team’s efforts.
That incident management team demobilized on Friday. Having gone through this once before two years ago, Fell says it was evident that the Greenwood County Emergency Management Department had good leadership over the response effort.
For residents, there are several options to pick up donated supplies.
*The Eureka Area Ministerial Alliance has set up shop at the former McDonald’s, 1005 East River. Items ranging from water and sports drinks to snacks, cleaning supplies, personal care items and hygiene products are available from 1-6 pm through at least this Friday.
*Mended Heart Ministry at 224 North Main is providing food, clothing and monetary services. It is asking for donations of nonperishable food.
*The Churches of Christ Disaster Response team at 807 East River has cleaning supplies, fans, personal hygiene items and other items.
