Endorsements are coming in for the different Kansas gubernatorial candidates.
Republican Jim Barnett announced Monday he’s accepted the endorsement of the Kansas Traditional Republicans for Common Sense. Barnett calls the endorsement a big lift for his campaign.
Barnett explains why he considers himself a traditional Republican.
Barnett says he believes most Kansans want traditional Republican values in a candidate, wanting to fund education, build our roads and take care of those in need. Ultimately he says, it’s an important election and that the best endorsement he can get will be from Kansas voters.
Barnett and his wife Rosemary Hansen are running for the governor and lieutenant governor seat in the Aug. 7 primary. The lieutenant governor candidates will be in Emporia for a candidate forum at the Granada Theatre July 24 at 6:30 p.m.
