The Minnesota Twins scored 2 runs in the 7th inning and a run in the 8th to defeat the Kansas City Royals 3-1 Monday night. Its the 10th straight loss for the Royals.
The Royals scored their run in the 3rd inning, Alex Gordon scoring on an Alcides Escobar double. Danny Duffy tossed 6 shutout innings. Giving up 6 hits with 9 strikeouts.
Tim Hill gave up the 2 runs in the 7th. Brandon Maurer gave up a run in the 8th. The Royals stranded 7 baserunners and were 1-9 with runners in scoring position. Manager Ned Yost said they just didn’t score enough runs.
The Royals and Twins play again Tuesday night. Ian Kennedy, fresh off the disabled list, makes the start for the Royals. First pitch is set for 7:10p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM with pregame at 6:30p.
