An Emporia teenager was hospitalized after crashing her pickup in a west Lyon County ditch Thursday evening.
The female driver was southbound on Road B2, less than a quarter mile north of Hwy 50 when the accident occurred, shortly before 7 p.m. Lyon County Deputy Tera Titus says the driver tried to slow down on the gravel road, but her brakes locked up. As a result the pickup hit the bridge rail and sign and the truck slid into the west ditch.
A Lyon County ambulance transported the juvenile to Newman Regional Health with apparent head and arm pain. Her name is not being released. No other occupants were in the truck.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
