An Emporia man has entered a plea to charges of cultivating a local marijuana grow operation.
At a pretrial hearing Friday in Lyon County District Court, 36-year-old William Ellis pled to a charge of cultivating controlled substances and aggravated child endangerment. Ellis will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 29.
Last month, Ellis’ wife 35-year-old Octavia Ellis entered a no contest plea and was subsequently found guilty of aggravated child endangerment. She will be sentenced at 10 a.m. Aug. 3.
The pair were arrested May 1 as part of a narcotics investigation by Emporia Police at 1411 Lawrence. Investigators obtained a warrant and found evidence of a grow operation that included live, dried and harvest plants, paraphernalia and guns.
