An Emporia woman sustained minor injuries as the result of a car accident north of town Saturday night.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 10:30 p.m., deputies along with Emporia Fire/EMS crews were dispatched to the 2400 block of North Highway 99 for a one vehicle crash. It was discovered that the passenger car driven by 72-year-old Mary Bedlien left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the east side ditch, coming to rest in a nearby field.
Bedlien was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health in Emporia with non-life-threatening injuries. Her exact condition is unknown as the hospital does not release patient information to the media.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
