TOWANDA — Two Chase County women were hurt during wet conditions on the Kansas Turnpike in Butler County on Monday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the one-vehicle wreck happened shortly before 9:30 am near the Towanda exit in southwest Butler County. A southbound car driven by 85-year-old Fern Blount of Cottonwood Falls hyrdroplaned and hit the center barrier wall.
Blount and a passenger, 79-year-old Shirley Lincoln of Cottonwood Falls, were both taken to Susan B Allen Hospital in El Dorado for treatment. The hospital does not release patient conditions to the media. Both women were wearing seatbelts.
Butler County had pockets of heavy rain as part of thunderstorm activity Monday morning.
