A total of 25 area students found out recently they were the latest recipients of scholarships from the Newman Regional Health Auxiliary.
Each student received a $500 scholarship for their continuing education in the state of Kansas, a total of $12,500 overall. Several recipients are nursing students; others are pre-med, physical therapy, radiology and respiratory therapy. The Auxiliary encourages students who are pursuing a health-related education to apply for a scholarship for the Spring 2019 semester.
The Newman Regional Health Auxiliary is made up of volunteers across the community who coordinate several fundraisers throughout the year to fund scholarships and to purchase needed items for the hospital. Their work has resulted in $25,000 in scholarship money awarded just this year for the spring and fall.
