Emporia City Commissioners held a brief action meeting Wednesday night.
Commissioners awarded a bid totaling close to $600,000 to APAC-Kansas, Inc.-Shear Division for the city’s upcoming City Connecting Link Improvement Program (CCLIP). The project will see milling and overlay and pavement markings along K-99/Commercial Street from Kansas Ave. to 3rd Ave. and from 12th Ave. to Interstate 35, however, some of that project could begin next month to minimize the impacts around Emporia State University. KDOT will reimburse the city of Emporia 90 cents to every dollar spent on work to complete the project which is estimated to cost the city roughly $250,000.
In other business, commissioners approved new rural water district contracts for RWD No. 1 serving Americus and RWD No. 4 serving Neosho Rapids. A beer garden request from Mulready’s Pub for the July 28 Lunar Kanza event also was approved along with the City Manager’s evaluation which will include a two percent salary increase.
A request for a stop sign at the intersection of Crestview Drive and Twin Lakes Drive in northwest Emporia was tabled to next week’s study session, which is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 25.
