An Americus woman sustained minor injuries as the result of a one-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon north of Emporia.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Ashlyn Voorhees was driving her passenger car southbound in the 2000 block of K-99, approximately two miles north of Emporia when she swerved to avoid hitting an animal and went into the ditch striking a culvert sign. The vehicle re-entered the roadway before going back into the south ditch where it came to rest.
Voorhees was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by Emporia, Lyon County ambulance at the scene. She was able to drive her vehicle away from the crash. Authorities say she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
