AMERICUS — Fire destroyed a barn outside Americus on Saturday.
Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope tells KVOE News Jeremiah Weatherhead was burning trash in the 2300 block of Road F-5, also called Americus Road, when wind took the fire to the barn, which was brought down to the ground despite the efforts of Americus and Emporia firefighters and Lyon County deputies.
No injuries were reported. Cope says there were some indications there were plans to tear down the barn anyways.
