As the governor race pushes toward the Aug. 7 primary, Emporia will host a community forum Tuesday for the lieutenant governor candidates.
The free event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Granada Theatre. Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce Office Manager Vanda Stephens explains the format for the event.
Four candidates have confirmed their attendance Tuesday, including Katrina Lewison (running with Josh Svaty “Swatty”), Rosie Hansen (running with Jim Barnett), Wink Hartman (running with Kris Kobach) and Jennifer Sanderson (running with Ken Selzer). Stephens says it’s important to get to know these candidates who will potentially be second in line to the governor’s seat. She also encourages people to vote.
The forum is expected to last about 90 minutes. Residents are encouraged to show up early.
