More water main breaks developed in the city of Emporia on Monday.
Residents in the 2600 block of West Ridge and the 2300 block of West 30th were without water service for a time as part of separate water main breaks. Both have been restored.
Public Works and Engineering department staffers have been working hard this summer on several planned water main improvements as well as the unplanned work when water lines fail. Residents along West 12th between Prairie and Grand, who have seen construction on a 20-inch line for about a month, had service interrupted into the evening hours as connections to the new line were finished. That overall project may not be done until September.
Other work underway now includes water line replacements on the Tyson Fresh Meats southbound employee entrance and the intersection of South and Carter. Work on Rural and East Wilman Court between 15th and 18th begins this week.
