The University of Kansas Tuesday released copies of 2 federal subpoenas seeking information as part of an FBI investigation into allegedly illegal college basketball recruiting practices.
The subpoenas requested text messages from coaches, contracts with Adidas and recordings of internal investigations related to the eligibility of student-athletes. The documents leave unclear how many, and which, student-athletes with KU connections may be under investigation by federal officials.
Multiple newpapers, including the Kansas City Star and Topeka Capital Journal, are speculating the possible players with KU ties involved are Billy Preston and Silvo De Sosa.

KU received 2 subpoenas, one on January 8th and the other on March 14th.
KU spokeman Andy Hyland said in an email statement,
“These documents do not suggest any wrongdoing by the university. We are cooperating fully with investigators in this matter. Because this is an active investigation, it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
