David Traylor Zoo leadership is pleased with the initial reaction to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo’s Oasis Capital Campaign announced a week ago.
This is a $4.3 million campaign, and the zoo has already generated $3.4 million during a quiet phase, which ended last week. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday, Zoo Director Lisa Keith says the money will go towards funding multiple capital projects at the zoo including the creation of a new entrance.
Keith says the creation of the new campaign has created an exciting buzz at the zoo.
Other projects will include expanded parking areas specifically dedicated bus parking, expansion of the zoo education center and a slew of new exhibits.
Keith says they plan to break ground on these new projects by the end of this year and estimate the projects should be completed by 2022 at the latest.
