SOS’s fourth annual SOS Strong fundraiser has officially begun to help end sexual assault.
For the past four years, 20 local men from Lyon and surrounding counties have come together to raise funds for SOS’s mission to help end domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and neglect. Thursday was the official kickoff for the annual event at Radius Brewing Company.
Lucas Moody with SOS says the kickoff serves as a celebration for the participants as well as the victims and survivors they are fighting for.
Each of the 20 participants are tasked with raising $1,000 or more from now to the finale on August 23. Prizes are awarded to the fastest to raise, most money raised and the most creative campaign. Moody says creativity is a big part of the event.
The participants for this year’s SOS strong include
From Lyon County: Joel Smith, Bobby Thompson, Carlos Ramos, Jaffar Agha, MJ “Jay” Diaz, Eric Porter, Steve Vaughn, Bobby Doudican, Joe Russel and Dathan Fischer.
From Morris County: Jason Booker and Shawn Honer (Honor)
From Osage County: Corey Linton and Chris Mullins
From Chase County: Warren Harshman and Richard Dorneker
From Coffey County: Erin Catchgard and Travis Whitesides
