The Emporia Police Department has accepted the challenge to participate in the lip synch craze sweeping the nation.
The latest viral sensation has featured police departments across the United States posting videos online of officers lip-synching to well-known music. Perhaps the most popular video so far came from the Norfolk Police Department in Virginia lip-synching to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk, which has been viewed more than half a million times.
Now the Emporia Police Department is stepping up to the mic, so to speak, to take their turn — and on KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Friday, Officer Ken Rodriguez invited the community to be part of the action.

The EPD lip synch challenge will take place Sunday, August 5th at 5:30 pm in the 800 block of Commercial Street in Emporia. EPD has invited any and all residents to attend the event. The performance will be filmed by EPD and will then be edited and posted to social media shortly after.
