The Emporia Senior American Legion baseball team is 2-0 at the State AAA Legion baseball tournament after their 3-2 win over Nickerson Thursday.
Post 5 scored a run in the 1st inning, Hayden Baumwart scored on a Sawyer Slayden triple.
Nickerson tied the game with a run in the 4th inning.
Emporia retook the lead in the bottom of the 4th when Trevin Ginter scored on a Riley Wagner single with 2 out.
Emporia added a run in the 5th inning. Cade Kohlmeier scoring on a Hayden Baumwart double. Nickerson scored a run in the 6th.
In the 7th- Emporia rightfielder Skyler Beatty threw out the tying run at the plate after a single.
Eric Hertlein was the winning pitcher going 6 and third innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Cade Kohlmeier recorded the final 2 outs for the save.
Post 5 wraps up pool play Friday evening with a game against Hays. First pitch is set for 6pm at Sodens Grove.

Salina picked up a 7-0 win over Leavenworth when Leavenworth forfieted due to lack of players.
Newton 4 Pittsburg 3.
